Aiko is local to the Brighton area and heard about the pastoral assistant program at All Saints church through her priests in her parish of St Nicholas of Myra. After having grown up in an evangelical missionary family, she found the possibility to grow in her expression of faith within the Anglo-Catholic context too good to pass up! Aiko has enthusiastic interest in reasoned faith and for community that truly meets people needs for kinship and care, two passions that are well met in her role as pastoral assistant. Along with learning more about church history and theology, she enjoys taking part in the daily rhythms of prayer and worship here at All Saints. A central part to Aiko’s life is living her faith loudly as a gay Christian. She took part in the online BBC piece, ‘Young Gay and Christian’ which was a piece exploring life as a gay Christians within the church. Aiko is keen to see more support for LGBT+ Christians in the area and to help build connections between affirming Christian spaces. Being at All Saints is an especially exciting for her as the church is an inclusive and affirming space where people of all sexualities and gender identities are welcomed to come and grow in the congregation’s growth in faith. Aiko is always up for a chat and would love to welcome you to All Saints!
