We have been greatly blessed to have received a grant of £40,000 towards the urgent repair of our two east towers.
A big thank you to the National Churches Trust for assisting us in this very significant restoration project. Earlier last year we were put on the National Heritage at Risk Register as our towers have degraded quite drastically due to the softness of the stone they are made from and the violence of the weather we sometimes face during the winter months.
Completing this work will mean an end to the emergency work we have needed to carry out, that the church itself is stable and secure, and will enable us to look forward to future community engagement projects, not the least our new community cafe which will hopefully be open sometime in Autumn.
Universal Stone have now delivered the first consignment of stone, ready cut and partially shaped, so that the actual stonework repairs can begin. We expect completion by the end of October.
