After six months of work our tower restoration is complete. Urgent stone repairs have been loving and expertly done by Universal Stone using the same materials as the original structures.
We have been greatly blessed to have received a grant of £40,000 towards the urgent repair of our two east towers from the National Churches Trust, with a further £15,000 from Garfield Weston and £5,000 from Sussex Churches Trust.
Earlier last year we were put on the National Heritage at Risk Register as our towers had degraded quite drastically due to the softness of the stone they are made from and the violence of the weather we often face during the winter months, and these grants have enabled us to repair the damage and make our towers safe again.
The church itself is now stable and secure, and so we can now look to initiating future community engagement projects, not the least our new community cafe which will hopefully be open sometime next summer.
