Born in Hemel Hempstead in 1942, after Malvern College Peter had a full career in the RAF (having trained at Cranwell) flying Hunters, Gnats, the USAF T38 and Harriers, serving in seven overseas locations from Singapore to Texas. Peter has commanded the Harrier training squadron and RAF Wittering, Cambs. He held a number of senior staff appointments at the Ministry of Defence, and NATO. His final post was Governor of the British Sovereign Base Areas and Commander British Forces in Cyprus (following which he was appointed Companion of the order of Bath).

Following his retirement in 1998 Peter has been involved with technology start-up companies in the medical information, intellectual property, climate change and healthcare fields. He settled in Hove in 2000, joining the All Saints congregation, helping with fundraising for urgent building repairs, and becoming a Churchwarden in 2020.
