Announcement of new appointment
What an amazing five and a half years we have had here at All Saints, and our parish community has been much transformed, in terms of both the church building itself and the shape and confidence of our parish. It’s not always been easy, but I believe there is a depth of faith and energy here that is at times breathtaking. It now feels that with our Strategic Investment well underway and our new team in place that we have the things in place for the next stage in the life of All Saints. At this time of transition, it is a good opportunity for me to consider what God’s call for me might be.
I have been invited by Bishop June Osbourne to join the Diocese of Llandaff in South Wales as the new Diocesan Director of Ordinands. I will be working closely with the bishop, Director of Ministry and other Vocations Advisors in developing and sustaining strategies and programmes to stir up a sense of calling in the churches there. I am so excited to be given this opportunity to use my experience of ministry both here and in Western Australia to encourage new vocations in Llandaff. It also means I can move closer to my brother and his family which means a great deal to me. I will be making the move to Wales before the end of the year.
It seems to me this is a good time for a new vicar with a renewed sense of vision and energy to come to All Saints and take you further on your journey of faith and discipleship. With our café, young adults’ group, musical programme, citizens’ engagement, new apostolic partnerships, and our redevelopment project on the horizon, these are exciting and critical times for All Saints. Bishop Martin, Rebecca Swyer and others will be working hard to ensure a new appointment takes place in good time and that the parish, wardens and team are supported through this time of transition and change.
There will be plenty of time for thanks and proper goodbyes over the next few months, but for now I want you to remember that I love you all very much and that you will always be in my heart and prayers.
